Experience the Dimensions of Color Screensaver!

Dimensions of Color Icon COLORCUBE Dimensions of Color Screensaver. The latest and greatest addition to the COLORCUBE Screensaver Collection. Features dozens of scripts that'll dazzle your eyes and challenge your brain. A full-blown exhibition of the beautiful objects that reside within the COLORCUBE model.

For decades the artistic and scientific color communities have refined the terms: Hue, Value, Chroma, Saturation and Luminance. Finally, these complex elements of color are described and illustrated like never before. See how each "dimension of color" is captured within COLORCUBE space.

Basic

Simple visual descriptions of the dimensions of color.
CUBE-basic COLORCUBE. The model and form that inspired a theory, website and screensaver family. A fun and easy way visualize color in a three dimensional space that makes sense in the computer world.
Chroma-basic Chroma. Watch the "chroma rings" begin at the center of the 'Cube and expand to the very outside edges where chromaticity is at its peak.
Hue-basic Hue. Like the blades of a turbine, these "hue fins" spin through the colors of the rainbow. The patterns created by these planes are not only captivating but also very harmonious.
Luminance-basic Luminance. Imagine Newton's Color Wheel mapped to a 3D COLORCUBE. Voila, the concept of luminance! See these "colorful bowties" twirl their way in and out of your screen.
Saturation-basic Saturation. Discover the COLORCUBE at full saturation and the infinite number of "saturation boxes" inside of it. Each one illustrates a different level of purity or richness for the colors upon it.
Value-basic Value. If the world contained only black and white, every color would still have its place on the grayscale. Would you believe that the colors on each "value slice" is equal to the same gray?
Color Wheel-basic Color Wheel. An elegant, simple model of color used in schools to teach color. Though beautiful and easy to understand, it is only partially suitable for computer and digital applications.
RGB-basic RGB Planes. Televisions and computer monitors are examples of devices that are capable of displaying many colors with only three primary inputs: red, green and blue (RGB).

Triple

Multi-view displays highlighting specific dimensions of color.
Chroma-triple Chroma. Each ring contains colors of constant chroma.
Hue-triple Hue. Each fin contains colors of constant hue.
Luminance-triple Luminance. Each bowtie contains colors of constant luminance.
Saturation-triple Saturation. Each box contains colors of constant saturation.
Value-triple Value. Each slice contains colors of constant value.

Spiral

Dimensions of color parading and settling within the 'Cube.
Chroma-triple Chroma. As each chroma ring enters the COLORCUBE, notice how each object is larger and brighter than the previous. This indicates higher chromaticity.
Hue-triple Hue. One by one the hue fins take their place. Notice that each hue object runs from the hue apex in the corner of the COLORCUBE to white, black and the colors in between.
Luminance-triple Luminance. From top to bottom, each of the bowtie objects represents a single luminance level.
Saturation-triple Saturation. The saturation boxes start out skinny and dull but as they increase in fullness, the colors on the objects become purer and thus, more saturated.
Value-triple Value. Each value slice is equivalent to a certain gray. Watch the planes as they elevate up the lightness scale.

Unique

Other magnificent ways to illustrate the COLORCUBE.
Inside Out-misc Inside Out. Multiple chroma objects alternately growing outward and shrinking inward.
Polygon Cube-misc Polygon Cube. Modern-day artwork featuring an abstract COLORCUBE composed of two dimensional polygons.
Polygon Explosion-misc Polygons. An explosion of color made up of a random grouping of eye-catching shapes
